scraped the sky.
"Beep!" said Blue.
Unfortunately for Blue, the city is also full of vehicles in a hurry: a bus, a taxi, a limousine, a street sweeper, and a police car all tell Blue to get out of their way.
yelled a limousine
(the longest car
you've ever seen).
"I've got His Honor
the mayor inside.
But then: the limousine breaks down, and Blue offers to give the Mayor a lift, after reminding all the vehicles that taking turns is the right way to do things. The Mayor gives a speech ("the way mayors do") and thanks Blue for his good advice. Then everyone starts driving one at a time, with Little Blue leading the way.
They rolled along
and everyone waved
Little Blue Truck Leads the Way is a really sweet story, and like Little Blue Truck, has a nice message to it. It's also gorgeously illustrated - I love the "faces" on all the cars, and the beautifully rendered details of the background scenes. Eleanor likes both of these books a lot, but this one is probably a little better for slightly older kids (because of the bigger words like "limousine" and because the first one comes in a board book edition!).
